Essential Job Duties

We are seeking a entry-level Data Scientist to work in a team on simple data modeling and tissue culture for forest tree improvement. This role focuses on interpreting data using already established experimental approach to enhance traits like growth, resilience, and biomass production, while applying basic tissue culture to support ongoing research tasks.

The position involves basic data science to analyzing experimental datasets, working in a team, and tissue culture of tree cells and explants. Ideal candidates will have experience in basic data science, statistical modeling, and is open to learning about tree tissue culture and genetic engineering, along with problem-solving and communication skills to drive sustainable forestry and renewable energy solutions.

Minimum Education and Experience

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree, or relevant Bachelor’s degree plus 3 or more years of independent research experience. May require terminal degree and licensure.


Other Required Qualifications

  • The ability to follow instructions and carry out independent research on data science and tissue culture.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in research and development is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills and work in a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data science, including statistical modeling, machine learning, and complex data analysis, with proficiency programming.
  • Enthusiasm and interests in learning tree tissue culture techniques (e.g., clonal propagation, somatic embryogenesis) is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and collaboration skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate research findings effectively.
